Oklahoma City, OK - The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) and the National Council of Local Administrators (NCLA) held its first annual Best Practices in Career and Technical Education Conference at Moore-Norman Technology Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 27 and 28. The conference showcased premiere leading-edge practices that are improving career and technical education curriculum and initiatives every day. The primary coordinator for the conference was Dr. Doug Major, superintendent of Pioneer Technology Center, Ponca City, Oklahoma and president-elect of NCLA.
Conference participants attended from all over the United States to listen to nationally recognized speakers, share best practices in career and technical education, network with leading professionals from across the nation, and tour some of the finest career and technical education facilities in the world. According to Major, "It was an honor for Oklahoma to host this national conference. Not only did we get to showcase Oklahoma’s premier CareerTech system, but we were also able to celebrate Oklahoma’s Centennial with our friends across the nation."
In addition to conference presenters, special guests included Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins; State Director of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, Dr. Phil Berkenbile; and Executive Director of ACTE, Jan Bray.
